Sigiriya

As Sri Lankans,the Sigiriya kindom is a very valuable historical kindom for all.Sigiriya is an ancient kindom.Also it was a greatest ancient urban plan.We all know about Sigiriya.In ancient time it was called "SINHAGIRI".The meaning of it is "The Lion Rock"

Sigiriya is located in North Central Province in Sri Lanka.The elevation is 393m.(1145 ft).It is very valuable cultural heritage.Govenment of Sri Lanka is governing body it.

In ancient time Sigiriya was a large forest.Then King Kashyapa chose it as his capital.He built his own place on the top of rock.The Sigiri Mirror Wall is a very popular item in the world.It has settled with many beautiful ancient arts.It was used as a Buddhist monastery untill the 14th century.

Now Sigiriya is a UNESCO listed world heritage site.It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planing.We must protect it for our next generation.We have a responsibility for that
