Sri Padaya

 Sri Padaya is a most valuable sacred place for all Buddhists in the world.the print is held to be the foot print of The Lord Buddha.The Sri Padaya is located in "Samanala Kanda".Many people are calling to Sri Padaya as Adam's peak.

The footprint mark is the left foot of the Buddha, left behind when Buddha visited Sri Lanka, as a symbol for worship at the invitation of Buddhist God Saman

The mountain is located in the southern reaches of the Central Highlands in the Rathnapura and  Nuwara Eliya districs of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.The surrounding region is largely forested hills, with no mountain of comparable size nearby. The region along the mountain is a wildlife reserve, housing many species varying from elephants to leopards, and including many endemic species.




Adam's Peak is important as a watershed.Many main rivers of Sri Lanka satart from Sri Pada site.They are Mahaweli,Kelani,Kalu,Walawe rivers.All poeple like to go to worship Sri Padaya.
